My name is Miranda J. Gardner, and I am the Writing Instructor in the Upward Bound College Readiness Program at the University of Washington. I am here to share my writing and artistic photography/collages that are fueled by a lifelong love for storytelling, especially the true stories about my grandmother’s cycling journey from Michigan to South America, my passion for long-distance cycling, nature/wilderness, and what women’s bodies can do are what inspire me. My current work-in-progress is a narrative memoir combining my grandmother’s and my cycling adventures. I have taught Creative Writing at the University of Washington during the summer since 2020. I am earning a master’s in creative and professional Writing at Central Washington University and will graduate in 2024. My plan after graduation will be to complete my first major project, “A Tribute to Grandma Doris: Cycling through Time.”
I became inspired to use Substack after hearing from published writers that this forum helped them meet writers and other artists. I was using Facebook for this endeavor, and I have heard that Substack works much better for sharing poems, other writings, and the images I am constantly creating. I want this to be a space of support, guidance, constructive feedback, and inspiration. What do you get from connecting with me? I would love to see your work and provide feedback as well! I want to build a community of writers that support each other honestly. I would love to meet more writers who have more experience with perfecting writing and getting work published. I want to share as much of my writing as possible with all of you! I will be posting about once a week a new poem and a new graphic collage of my nature photography. Therefore, you will see a new poem from me or a new image once a week starting today!
Nice to see you here, Miranda! I hope your time on Substack is valuable.
Thank you!!!!!!
